Compliance Roadmap Addendum
Effective: June 2026 · Version 1.0
This Addendum consolidates Deemona's obligations under Indian law (Information Technology Act 2000, IT Rules 2021, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and the Copyright Act 1957) and international frameworks (GDPR, the Berne Convention). It supplements, and should be read alongside, Deemona's Legal & Copyright page, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Service. Where this Addendum and the underlying policy documents differ in detail, the underlying policy document is authoritative; this page exists as a single consolidated reference and status summary.
1. Legal & Copyright
- Deemona operates strictly as an RSS aggregator, not a publisher
- Explicit compliance with the Copyright Act 1957 and the Berne Convention
- Publisher opt-out is available via direct request or by disallowing our crawler in robots.txt
- A repeat infringer policy is in force: accounts or sources repeatedly associated with infringing content may be suspended or permanently excluded
2. IT Rules 2021
- A Grievance Officer is published with designation, contact details, and resolution timelines (24-hour acknowledgement, 15-day resolution, 36-hour removal of unlawful content)
- A takedown mechanism allows unlawful content to be removed within 36 hours of a valid complaint
- Compliance reports summarising grievance and takedown activity will be published on a quarterly basis
- Users are responsible for their own comments and community content; moderation guidelines are enforced through Deemona's comment moderation tools
3. Data Protection (DPDP Act 2023 + GDPR)
- Minimal data collection: no advertising trackers, no location tracking, no behavioural profiling
- Consent management with opt-out mechanisms for marketing communications and non-essential cookies
- An interactive cookie banner is displayed to all visitors, including for essential-only acceptance
- Cross-border data transfer safeguards are documented for Singapore-based hosting infrastructure
- Data breach notification: affected users are notified within 72 hours, with reporting to the Data Protection Board of India for breaches affecting users in India
4. Operational Governance
- A transparency dashboard publishes our source list, bias methodology, and platform statistics
- A force majeure clause protects against liability arising from events outside Deemona's reasonable control
- Age restrictions (under-13 exclusion) are reinforced in the Terms of Service
- Publisher disputes are handled first through direct communication before any further escalation
